⚠️ Everyday Accuracy Notice
Real Online Ruler is created for everyday DIY tasks, school homework, crafting, and general measuring. It gives great precision (up to ±0.2 mm) when calibrated, but it is not intended for critical manufacturing, building construction, or medical uses.
1. Why Calibration Matters
Every phone, laptop, and monitor is built with a different screen size and different number of pixels. Because of this, no website can guess your screen size perfectly without your help.
To make sure your ruler is 100% accurate, always calibrate first:
- Hold any credit card or debit card against your screen and adjust the calibration slider.
- Or choose your exact phone or laptop model from our device list.
2. Keep Your Browser Zoom at 100%
If your browser is zoomed in (like 110% or 125%) or zoomed out (like 90%), the ruler ticks on your screen will stretch or shrink.
Always make sure your browser zoom is set to 100% before measuring. You can reset your zoom instantly by pressing Ctrl + 0 on Windows or Cmd + 0 on Mac.
3. Printing PDF Rulers Accurately
When printing our free ruler PDFs:
- In your printer settings, choose "Actual Size" or "100% Scale".
- Do not select "Fit to Page" or "Shrink to Fit", as this will make the printed ruler smaller than real life.
- After printing, place a standard bank card over the printed card box to verify that the size is exact.
4. What Not to Use This Tool For
Please do not use our digital rulers or printable PDFs for:
- Medical or healthcare measuring.
- Critical building architecture or heavy engineering.
- Official trade or legal sales that require government-certified scales.
